Five brightly coloured chocolate products shaped like cars, hearts, butterflies and ladybirds have been recalled across Britain because their labels fail to declare milk and soya.
Chocolate manufacturer Bon Bons Wholesale Ltd has announced a recall across England, Scotland and Wales. The recall was issued after it was found that the products contain milk and soya that are not listed on the label.Consumers with allergies to milk or soya are being urged not to eat these products. The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) has advised affected customers to return the products to the shop where they were bought for a full refund.The recalled chocolates include novelty-shaped products such as ladybirds, butterflies, hearts and sports cars.While the products are not considered a risk to the general public, they may cause serious allergic reactions in people who cannot consume milk or soya.

Why are chocolates being recalled
According to the Food Standards Agency, Bon Bons Wholesale Ltd is recalling the products because they contain milk and soya that are missing from the ingredient information on the packaging.Food labels are important because they help people with allergies identify ingredients that could trigger serious reactions. When allergens are not declared, consumers may unknowingly eat food that is unsafe for them.The FSA said, “These products contain milk and soya making them a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents and/or an allergy to soya.”
List of recalled products
The recall covers several novelty chocolate products. These include Medium Coloured Ladybird with best-before dates of 16 January 2028 and 1 March 2027; Small Red Ladybird with best-before dates of 21 January 2027 and 25 January 2027; Large Red Heart with best-before dates of 22 November 2027, 23 December 2027, and 26 December 2027; Mini Butterflies with best-before dates of 21 March 2027 and 9 September 2027; and Sports Car with a best-before date of 15 August 2027.

Anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, or an allergy to soya, should check whether they have bought any of these products.

The Food Standards Agency has advised people who have a milk or soya allergy not to return the products to the shop where they were purchased to receive a full refund.The FSA said Bon Bons Wholesale Ltd is recalling the affected products from customers and has been asked to contact relevant allergy support organisations so that their members are informed about the recall.The agency added, “The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers.
