'Culprits should be hanged': Mother of NEET aspirant who died by suicide says Pradhan's resignation is not enough
Parents of Akanksha Chaturvedi demand justice and compensation after her suicide following the NEET-UG paper leak

NAGPUR: Parents of Akanksha Chaturvedi, who died by suicide following the NEET-UG paper leak, have demanded justice and compensation for their daughter, saying they are not satisfied with Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. Her mother, Neelam Chaturvedi, sought strict punishment for those responsible for the paper leak and also called for the resignation of the country’s top leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, news agency ANI reported.“My daughter won’t come back. We are not satisfied with anything. The government did not come to meet us. What will happen with the resignation?”“Our daughter should get compensation; we are not satisfied with the resignation.

CJP Jantar Mantar Protest Updates

Our demand is that our daughter should get justice and compensation, and perpetrators should be hanged. Dharmendra Pradhan stepped down; PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah should also step down. We had to sell our land; will it come back?” she added.Akanksha’s father, Krishna Kumar Chaturvedi, said, “I don’t see anything beyond my daughter. Our daughter wanted to be a doctor and serve the country.”The NEET-UG examination paper was leaked in May, following which the government conducted a re-examination on June 21.Union minister JP Nadda later announced that the government had agreed to provide suitable compensation to the families of NEET aspirants who died by suicide.Several NEET aspirants allegedly died by suicide following the paper leak, triggering widespread outrage over the examination controversy.Earlier on Saturday, Dharmendra Pradhan submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that he was stepping down in the larger interest of students to ensure that the country’s youth do not become “trapped in a web of confusion.”The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), which began as a satirical social media account inspired by CJI Surya Kant’s remarks, spearheaded the movement alongside activist Sonam Wangchuk at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, demanding Pradhan’s resignation. The CJP has since withdrawn its agitation after holding three rounds of talks with Union Ministers Jitendra Singh and JP Nadda.(With agency inputs)
