​Sergey Brin and Larry Page have deepened their ties to South Florida. Together, the Google co-founders have purchased waterfront homes worth more than $225 million in the state. Meanwhile, their company, Google parent Alphabet, has reportedly followed suit by expanding its Miami office footprint more than fourfold. According to a Bloomberg report, the tech giant has increased its leased office space from about 10,000 square feet to roughly 45,000 square feet.​The office expansion came shortly after the two billionaires, whose combined wealth exceeds $573 billion as reported by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, established their homes in Florida. The news agency reported that the Miami office expansion was partially driven by the co-founders’ recent residential real estate purchases. However, Google declined to comment on the development.​

Google’s Miami office gets bigger

​Alphabet signed a lease this spring to expand its office at 1450 Brickell Avenue in Miami’s financial district. The office, which has been part of Google’s operations since 2016, includes amenities such as a fitness centre, rooftop terrace and views of Biscayne Bay, the report claims.​Despite the expansion, Miami remains a relatively small location for Google compared with its larger campuses. The company’s headquarters and surrounding offices in Mountain View, California, span more than 10 million square feet, while its Hudson Square campus in New York covers approximately 1.7 million square feet.​

Sergey Brin and Larry Page have expanded their Florida real estate holdings

​Larry Page has acquired multiple waterfront properties in Miami over the past year. His purchases include a $101.5 million estate in Coconut Grove, among the highest-value residential transactions in the city, as well as another waterfront property valued at approximately $71.9 million in the gated Camp Biscayne community.​On the other hand, Sergey Brin has purchased a $51 million waterfront home on Allison Island in Miami Beach. The seven-bedroom property is located within a gated neighbourhood containing fewer than 50 homes.​Together, the co-founders now own real estate in South Florida valued at more than $225 million, according to reports.
