Thank you, friends’: PM Modi hails ‘love, support’ of youth in new Insta video

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday thanked young people for watching his video on examination reforms and sharing their suggestions. In a video message shared on Instagram, PM Modi expressed appreciation for the response to his address and the feedback received from students and young people.“Thank you friends. I had the opportunity to meet you late last night. I appreciate the way you responded to my video and your positive suggestions. Thanks to everyone…” PM Modi said.“Last night, I got the opportunity to interact with you. The way you responded to the video I posted and shared your positive suggestions—thanks to everybody. Your love and support continue, and that our connection grows even stronger and more active,” he further said. The caption of the video read: “Thanks to the youngsters who watched my video yesterday and sent insightful suggestions.”PM Modi’s message comes a day after he announced that the government would introduce stricter measures to tackle examination paper leaks amid nationwide protests over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination. In a video message on Thursday, PM Modi said the Union Cabinet would consider a draft Bill providing for fast-track courts and stringent punishment for those involved in paper leak cases, with efforts to pass the legislation in Parliament during the coming week.“I know that paper leak is not an ordinary issue. It is very painful for lakhs of students and their guardians,” the Prime Minister had said, adding that the government had already arrested those responsible and ensured that nearly 22 lakh students were able to retake the examination without losing an academic year.He had also said the proposed legislation would include provisions for fast-track courts and tougher penalties to strengthen the integrity of the country’s examination system. The announcement came amid widespread protests over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak. Earlier this week, PM Modi also told the NDA Parliamentary Party that the government was working to make the country’s examination system “foolproof”.
