‘Red suits you’: 2 DU students got ‘aggressive’ after woman ‘answered back’; both held | Delhi News
NEW DELHI: Police Friday apprehended two of the three men wanted in a case of alleged stalking and harassment of two DU women students in Mukherjee Nagar Wednesday night.The two, Abhinav and Abhimanyu, are DU law faculty students. A third suspect, Naman, is at large.A senior police officer said one youth said from the car: “Red suits you,” to which one of the women objected and asked them not to misbehave. “They got aggressive because she had answered back, and started abusing.”The SUV that the men were in at the time of the incident has at least 18 challans against it that amount to Rs 33,000.The car was found in a parking area in outer Delhi’s Bhalswa Dairy.Most of the challans against the vehicle were for speeding and using tin-ted glass. “All the challans were pending,” a source added.In a complaint filed Wednesday night, one of the women students said the incident took place around 9.30pm when she was with her friend near Hakikat Park.Following the complaint, police registered a case under BNS sections 78 (stalking), 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 3(5) (common intention) against unknown persons at Mukherjee Nagar police station.In a video, the woman student said that she and her friend were walking from Hakikat Park towards Old Gupta Colony when a white SUV approached them. The occupants rolled down the windows and allegedly made lewd comments.When the woman objected and asked the men to stop misbehaving and leave, the occupants allegedly started abusing them. The students later realised that the SUV was following them.When they stopped near Old Gupta Colony to record a video of the vehicle, the SUV also stopped.The occupants then allegedly tried to push the students inside the vehicle. The student’s friend then took out her phone, after which the SUV left.
