Stalked for a year, blackmailed with private photos: 16-year-old ‘raped’ in Gwalior | Bhopal News
BHOPAL: On the day two Class 10 students were allegedly harassed on a road in Bihar’s Jamui, a similar incident unfolded nearly 1,000 km away in Gwalior, where a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 17-year-old neighbour after he threatened and blackmailed her with private photographs, police said.The Gwalior girl was on her way to a coaching class on Saturday evening when the accused allegedly intercepted her on a motorcycle, threatened to make the photographs and chats public and forced her to accompany him to a flat.Police said the girl alleged that the accused raped her at the flat and later dropped her near her coaching centre.The accused had allegedly been stalking and harassing the Class 10 student for nearly a year, according to her complaint.The girl told police that he had repeatedly followed her to and from coaching classes and later began threatening her with private photographs and chat screenshots.According to the complaint, the harassment had briefly stopped after her family counselled her, but the accused allegedly resumed it.On Saturday around 6 pm, he allegedly intercepted her while she was going to coaching and threatened to circulate the photographs if she did not comply.After the alleged assault, the girl returned home and told her mother about the incident. Her family subsequently approached police, following which an FIR was registered late Sunday night under the POCSO Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.Police traced the accused and took him into custody within hours. As he is also a minor, he was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to a reform home.“The accused is also a 17-year-old minor. He was taken into custody after being booked following the survivor’s complaint and was produced before court, which sent him to a reform home,” Gwalior Kotwali police station in-charge Prashant Sharma told TOI.Police said they were investigating the allegations and recording statements of relevant witnesses.
