WWE Hall of Famer and former NFL player Bill Goldberg listed his Eagle Mountain Estate in Bonsall, California, for $3.2 million in November 2019, after spending two decades expanding the property around the home he bought in 1999. Goldberg paid about $1 million for the original estate, which covered roughly 17.5 acres at the time, and subsequently acquired neighbouring parcels that brought the total holding to 28 acres. The property combined a 4,630-square-foot house with equestrian facilities, riding trails, a pool and a custom-built 6,800-square-foot garage designed to accommodate Goldberg’s collection of vintage vehicles. The garage, known as the “Garage Mahal”, had been featured on television programmes including Garage Mahal and Dream Garages. By the time the property went on the market, Goldberg and his wife, Wanda, had already moved to Texas and taken his car collection with them.

Goldberg bought the original property in 1999

The house was built in 1997, two years before Goldberg purchased it. Realtor.com reported that Goldberg paid $1 million for the property in 1999, when the estate covered approximately 17.5 acres. Over the following years, he bought three neighbouring parcels as they became available, expanding the combined property to 28 acres. The resulting Eagle Mountain Estate was situated on a secluded section of Bonsall, north of San Diego. The property was entered through a gated private driveway surrounded by mature landscaping, with a small creek and a koi pond near the entrance. Hunter & Maddox described the estate as being designed to appeal to automobile enthusiasts, equestrians and prospective vineyard owners. The estate was listed for $3.2 million in November 2019. Listing agent Richard Combs of Hunter & Maddox told Realtor.com that the property was particularly likely to attract car collectors because of the scale and design of Goldberg’s garage.

The house covered 4,630 square feet

The single-level main residence measured 4,630 square feet and contained four bedrooms and four bathrooms. The interior included a large kitchen and family room, living room, office and dining room with vaulted ceilings. The property also featured custom stonework and a private entrance surrounded by landscaping. Outside, the estate included a swimming pool and spa with a waterfall and slide, a half basketball court, fire pit and sitting area. A separate guesthouse was also part of the property. These features sat alongside the estate’s more unusual automotive and equestrian facilities. The acreage also gave the property a potential agricultural use. Hunter & Maddox noted the possibility of establishing a vineyard, while the property’s existing landscape included citrus and avocado orchards. The listing described the surrounding vegetation as habitat for butterflies, bees and hummingbirds.

The 6,800-square-foot garage was bigger than the house

The most distinctive part of Eagle Mountain Estate was its custom-built garage. At 6,800 square feet, it was roughly 2,170 square feet larger than the main residence and had space for at least 20 vehicles. Goldberg designed and oversaw the garage to house his collection, and it became known as the “Garage Mahal”. The structure was more than a basic storage facility. Reporting on the listing described car lifts, car-washing areas, display lighting, custom flooring and storage for spare parts. It also included a gym and additional living space, making it closer to a private enthusiast’s facility than a conventional residential garage. The garage had also appeared on television, including Goldberg’s Garage Mahal and Dream Garages. Despite its prominence in the sale, however, Goldberg’s actual collection was not included with the property. Realtor.com reported that he had already taken the cars with him after moving to Texas with his wife.

The estate also had horses, riding trails and vineyard potential

For buyers more interested in horses than cars, the property included a four-stall horse facility and more than 15 miles of riding trails. Hunter & Maddox said the trails passed through areas surrounded by citrus and avocado orchards. The combination of acreage, climate and existing landscaping also gave the property potential for vineyard development. Hunter & Maddox described the land as having irrigation, decomposed-granite soil and slopes considered suitable for cultivating vines. The estate therefore offered several distinct uses within the same property, from the oversized automotive facility to the horse infrastructure and agricultural potential. The main house itself remained comparatively modest in scale next to the 28-acre grounds and the enormous garage.

Goldberg moved from football to professional wrestling

Goldberg’s career began in professional football before he became one of the most recognisable wrestlers of the 1990s. He played for the Los Angeles Rams and Atlanta Falcons, among other teams, before moving into professional wrestling and becoming a major star in World Championship Wrestling. Realtor.com also noted his later work as a mixed martial arts commentator and appearances in films and television. He later wrestled for WWE and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018. By the time Eagle Mountain Estate was listed in 2019, Goldberg and his wife had already relocated to Texas to be closer to family. His prized collection of muscle cars, exotics and motorcycles went with him, leaving the California property and its unusually large “Garage Mahal” behind.
