Actor Rajpal Yadav has received interim relief from the Supreme Court in seven cheque bounce cases linked to Murli Projects Private Limited. According to the PTI report, the apex court has granted him two weeks to arrange a demand draft of Rs. 2 crore. The court also directed the actor to hand over his passport and reportedly cautioned that this would be his final opportunity to comply with the financial condition.
What has the Supreme Court ordered in Rajpal Yadav’s cheque bounce case?
The Supreme Court’s direction comes after the Delhi High Court reportedly found Rajpal Yadav guilty in all seven matters and sentenced him to three months in jail in each case.Following the Delhi High Court’s order, Rajpal Yadav and his wife, Radha Yadav, approached the Supreme Court challenging the verdict. After hearing their submissions, the apex court issued a formal notice and granted the actor a two-week window to arrange the required payment. As per the report, Rajpal has been directed to submit a demand draft of Rs. 2 crore. In addition to the financial condition, the actor must also hand over his passport. The court reportedly made it clear that he would not receive another opportunity to fulfil the requirement.“Kindly grant him some breathing time,” Rajpal Yadav’s counsel said in the court, according to the report. “He is an actor in Bollywood. We hope he is not acting here also,” CJI Suryakant said to the actor’s counsel’s plea. “As a last opportunity, two weeks’ time is granted to honour the order. Post the matter thereafter,” the CJI added.
How did the dispute involving Rajpal Yadav begin?
The dispute reportedly dates back to 2010, when Rajpal Yadav borrowed close to Rs. 5 crore from a Delhi-based firm to finance his directorial debut, ‘Ata Pata Laapata’. The comedy film failed to perform as expected at the box office, leaving the actor unable to generate sufficient returns to repay the loan. Over time, the outstanding amount reportedly increased because of interest and additional charges, eventually reaching nearly Rs. 9 crore.The unpaid liability subsequently led to cheque bounce complaints against Rajpal Yadav. The matter eventually reached the Delhi High Court before being challenged before the Supreme Court. The allegations and court proceedings relate to the financial dispute and the dishonoured cheques. The latest Supreme Court direction provides interim relief subject to the conditions imposed by the bench.

On the professional front, Rajpal Yadav was recently seen in Priyadarshan’s ‘Haiwaan’, which features Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles. The film also stars Boman Irani, Saiyami Kher and Shriya Pilgaonkar. ‘Haiwaan’ was released in theatres on September 11, 2026. Rajpal Yadav will next be seen in ‘Malamaal Weekly 2’. The film is yet to begin its pre-production work.
