FBI adds India-origin man Manjit Singh Bedi to most-wanted fraudsters list, offers reward up to $150k for info
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has added India-born Manjit Singh Bedi to its most-wanted fraudsters list over his alleged role in a scheme that defrauded the US government of at least $600,000 in SNAP benefits between March 2024 and June 2025.According to the FBI, Bedi, a naturalised US citizen, operated Asian Grocery Store in Tacoma, Washington, where he allegedly used customers’ Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards to process transactions without providing food. Instead, he is accused of giving SNAP participants cash and keeping half of the proceeds.“Instead of selling participants food, Bedi is alleged to have swiped their cards and given them cash,” the FBI said in its wanted notice.Bedi was indicted on charges of wire fraud and SNAP benefits fraud but was allowed to appear in court without being arrested. He was ordered to surrender his passport and remain in Washington state. The FBI said he later drove into Canada and fled to India.A federal arrest warrant was issued for Bedi on May 21, 2026, in the US District Court for the Western District of Washington after he was charged with violations of conditions of supervision. The FBI said he is currently believed to be residing in India.The agency is offering a reward of up to $150,000 for information leading to Bedi’s arrest and conviction.
