Glenwood “Bubba” Pysher was just 22 and getting ready for another college baseball season when his life ended in Upper Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania. Pysher had recently transferred to Saint Elizabeth University in New Jersey and was remembered as a dedicated catcher with plenty of potential. Away from baseball, he worked at the local Walmart and was described by people close to him as a well-respected young man. The deadly incident happened after Pysher had been out celebrating a friend’s birthday at a bar on Saturday night. His mother, Erin, told WPVI that the group later decided to continue the night at a friend’s house. Pysher walked there on his own, but went to the wrong property on Snyder Road. He apparently believed he was at the right home and started knocking, telling whoever was inside, “Hey let me in.”

The residents of the Snyder Road home called police after reporting a possible break-in. According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, responding officers found Pysher at the rear of the property.What happened in the few moments after that is now part of an investigation. Erin said officers fired their weapons, striking her son twice. She also said he was unarmed and had only his cellphone and a book bag with him.His mother questioned how quickly the situation escalated. “12.32, he was on the phone with his friends,” she said. “By 12.35, I believe he’s already shot.” The reference material does not explain what caused officers to draw their weapons.
Investigators are reviewing surveillance from the backyard
There is surveillance footage from the property, and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing it as part of the officer-involved shooting investigation.That footage is now central to questions surrounding the incident. Family friend Kia asked whether the situation could have been handled differently, saying, “What happened? Could it have been de-escalated?” Wendy Hasara also called for “justice” and said she hoped Pysher’s death could “prevent this from ever happening to another person.”
Pysher’s family remembers the baseball player he was
Before his death, Pysher had been preparing for life at Saint Elizabeth University. Friends remembered how hard he worked around baseball, including his Walmart job. Hasara said he would work until it was time to leave for games, then drive his non-air-conditioned car to away games before putting on his catcher’s gear.His family’s memories were more personal. Erin called him a “lovable goofball” who would walk through the back door saying, “Hey mom, your favorite kid is home.” Anthony Napoli said Pysher’s love for baseball brought pride to his parents and three sisters.The investigation by the Montgomery County Detective Bureau remains focused on the officer-involved shooting and the surveillance footage from that night.
