‘Delete posts, apologise’: Bengal CM Adhikari orders action over derogatory posts about Netaji
NEW DELHI: West Bengal chief minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday ordered action against social media making unsavoury comment against Subhash Chandra Bose.While talking to reporters, Suvendu said, “Those making derogatory remarks against Netaji on social media should immediately delete posts and issue apology,”“I have asked police to arrest those making unsavoury comments on Netaji. Law will be equal for MLAs, MPs, and government officials,” he added.Adhikari also directed all MLAs to set up public service centres in their respective constituencies and name them after Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.The chief minister’s direction to the police came days after BJP MP Nagendranath Roy, popularly known as Ananta Maharaj, described Netaji as a “war criminal” and questioned his leadership and the role of the Azad Hind Fauj in India’s freedom struggle.

Adhikari further said the state will assist Rs 30,000 per month to run the centres, subject to certain conditions.The centres will have to bear Netaji’s name and display a portrait of Bose in traditional dhoti and kurta, which will be supplied by the state Information and Cultural Affairs Department, the chief minister said.“Earlier, MLAs in our state used to work from government offices. Now almost every MLA has their own office. Every constituency must have a service centre run by the MLA. Through these centres, they will provide services to the people of their areas. Everyone will receive services, whether they voted for them or not. These service centres will be called Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Seva Kendra,” Adhikari said.
