Nearly half of India's workforce wants a new job. Here's why
India’s job-switch wave grows, Google ranked the country’s most attractive employer

What makes an employer stand out when nearly half the workforce is thinking about switching jobs?According to the Randstad Employer Brand Research (REBR) 2026, Google stands at the top of India’s most attractive employer brands, followed by Tata Group and Amazon. The REBR 2026 draws on insights from more than 1.75 lakh respondents across 34 markets and close to 3,500 respondents in the country. The survey reveals a workforce that is increasingly open to change, with 46% of Indian talent planning to change jobs in the next six months.Another 32% said they had already changed employers in the last six months.Google secured the top spot in the rankings, while Tata Group and Amazon took the second and third positions, respectively. Samsung India ranked fourth, followed by Infosys, Reliance Industries, ITC Group, Hindustan Unilever, Mahindra & Mahindra and Dell Technologies Ltd, completing the list of India’s 10 most attractive employer brands. What employees wantThe survey found that work-life balance remains one of the strongest factors influencing employer preference among Indian workers. Equal opportunities, career progression, salary and benefits, and a very good reputation also emerged as the core Employee Value Proposition (EVP) drivers for the workforce.According to the report, this year’s findings indicate that India’s workforce is entering what it describes as the era of the “Balanced Employer”—organisations that can simultaneously deliver meaningful work, career growth, inclusivity, wellbeing, flexibility and competitive rewards. The study also noted that performance recognition and career continuity, alongside reliable pay and benefits, form the strongest foundations of job security in India.Talent expectations are evolvingCommenting on the findings, Narayan Iyer, MD, Randstad India, said that employers will have to look beyond conventional benefits as employee expectations continue to evolve.“With nearly half of the workforce contemplating a career move over the next six months, enterprise resilience depends on looking far beyond surface-level benefits. While many employers have made substantial progress, talent expectations are expanding faster than organisational structures can adapt,” he said.Iyer further noted that as India continues to attract global investment and expand its economic footprint, organisations that actively re-think their talent strategies will lead the market in talent attraction and retention.“Ultimately, the future belongs to employers who master the art of making growth, flexibility, fairness, purpose, and reward coexist, rather than compete,” he said. While employee expectations remain broadly similar across specialisations, the survey found that digital talent stands apart. This group places competitive salary ahead of work-life balance and is more likely to leave an organisation because of limited opportunities for career growth.
