Army initiates specialised 14-day training for CISF personnel to tackle security challenges
NEW DELHI: Demonstrating a unified approach to national security and infrastructure protection, the Indian Army has initiated a comprehensive two-week specialised training programme for Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel deployed at Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport, Agartala, from Monday at Agartala Military Station.Organised under the overarching framework of military-civil fusion, the joint initiative aims to synergise operational expertise, upgrade tactical preparedness and fortify critical aviation infrastructure against evolving security challenges.Over the course of 14 days, experienced instructors from the Army will train CISF personnel in advanced security protocols, focusing on key operational areas, including industrial and critical infrastructure security, vital area and vital point security, quick reaction team drills, and counter drone operations and threat mitigation.In a post on X, SpearCorps of the Indian Army said, “The initiative is aimed at enhancing inter-agency synergy and operational preparedness through training on security of vital areas, counter-drone threats and mitigation measures, strengthening aviation security and ensuring safer skies.”“Modern security challenges require a seamless, integrated response across agencies. By combining the tactical combat prowess of the Indian Army with the specialised aviation security mandate of the CISF, this joint effort significantly enhances the overall defence posture of Agartala’s premier gateway,” a defence ministry release said.The Agartala airport, located close to the Bangladesh border, is the second busiest airport in the northeast, which recorded 15 lakh passenger footfall in the 2025-26 fiscal.
