NEW DELHI: A woman from Nagaland has alleged that she was harassed and her friends were assaulted in the parking area of a five-star hotel here on Oct 4. Police said the incident involved an argument and scuffle between two groups and no arrests had been made so far.The incident took place around 3.30am. In her complaint, the 28-year-old alleged that she and a friend had come out of the washroom when three men in a white Mercedes allegedly tried to abduct them near the exit gate. Police said the kidnapping allegation was being probed.When contacted, an official at The Ashok said those involved in the incident were guests of SOHO, a separate entity and club that operates from premises leased from the hotel.‘Men removed car’s number plate to conceal their identity’The official said The Ashok hotel had no connection with the incident as those involved were guests of SOHO, a separate entity. Multiple calls and a text message were sent to SOHO, but garnered no response. The woman alleged that when her three male friends intervened, the men attacked them with hockey sticks and punches.“One of our male friends came to save us while we were struggling. The three men hit him with hockey sticks and punched him in the face. They also hit two of my other male friends with hockey sticks, took out a gear lock and started beating them,” she alleged.She further complained that the men had removed the car’s number plate to conceal their identity and attempted to flee after police arrived and even tried to run them over.According to police records, a PCR call about a fight brought a police team to the hotel, where a large crowd had gathered and two groups were allegedly arguing. Members of both groups were taken to the police station for questioning.The woman and others were taken to RML Hospital for medical examination. Police records show no fresh external injuries were found on four members of her group. However, the medical report of one man stated he had been brought for examination following an alleged physical assault at the hotel and recorded loss of consciousness.Among the other group, one man was found to have swelling and tenderness in the little finger of his right hand with restricted movement, while two others had no fresh external injuries. Police also preserved blood samples of members of both groups.Based on the PCR call, circumstances at the spot, medical reports and the complaint, police registered an FIR under Sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 126(2) (wrongful restraint) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the clash and the role of those involved. No arrests have been made so far.
