1 dead, 55 hurt in J&K as Bengal bus hits hillside, vehicle sent for rescue overturns | India News
JAMMU: A tourist died, and 55 others were injured in two separate but related accidents on Jammu-Srinagar NH in Ramban district on Saturday morning. The incidents involved a tourist bus returning to West Bengal and a speeding quick response team (QRT) vehicle that was dispatched for the rescue and evacuation efforts.“The tourist bus reportedly lost control and hit a hillside around 8.30am. Jamuna, a resident of West Bengal, died and 46 others were injured. A QRT vehicle dispatched from Ramban police lines for the rescue overturned around 9.15 am, injuring nine personnel on board,” an official said.J&K lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha and Union minister Jitendra Singh expressed grief over the loss of life and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. Sinha assured that the best possible medical treatment would be provided to the seriously injured.
