NEW DELHI: Ahead of the Monsoon Session, Delhi Police on Sunday said no permission has been sought or granted for the proposed march to Parliament called by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on July 20, warning that any unauthorised gathering would invite legal action.In a statement, the police said prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), the equivalent of the erstwhile Section 144 of the CrPC, are in force across the New Delhi district.Under these restrictions, protest marches, processions, demonstrations and assemblies of five or more persons are prohibited, except at the designated protest site at Jantar Mantar and only with prior permission, the statement said.With the Parliament session beginning on July 20, Delhi Police said elaborate security arrangements have been put in place to ensure public safety, protect vital government installations and provide security to protectees.The police warned that anyone violating the prohibitory orders would be liable for prosecution under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other applicable provisions of law.Appealing to the public to maintain peace and order, Delhi Police urged citizens to refrain from participating in any unauthorised march or gathering and to cooperate with authorities in ensuring security during the Parliament session.Earlier, the Delhi high court upheld the Centre’s decision to intervene in Sonam Wangchuk‘s prolonged hunger strike after the educationist was shifted from the CJP’s protest site at Jantar Mantar to Safdarjung Hospital.The court observed that the Union government’s action was well within its rights and found no arbitrariness or use of force in shifting Wangchuk for medical monitoring.The move, however, triggered strong reactions from Wangchuk, his wife Gitanjali Angmo and members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). Angmo has maintained that the hunger strike continues, alleging that Wangchuk has refused to consume even oral fluids offered by the medical authorities.
