KC Pet Project is facing another difficult stretch as an influx of dogs leaves the Kansas City animal shelter with just two open kennels. The shelter recently shared a video showing some of the dogs currently waiting for homes, revealing that 93 dogs have come through its doors in the past five days alone. According to the shelter, only around 40 dogs remain after some have already found placements, but its kennels are still essentially at capacity.

And the support hasn’t only been personal.In September 2024, the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation partnered with KC Pet Project for an adoption event designed to help tackle pet homelessness in the Kansas City community.The partnership offered reduced adoption fees for adult dogs weighing 30 pounds or more and adult cats, with KC Pet Project publicly thanking Patrick and Brittany Mahomes for their support.Just a month later, KC Pet Project reported receiving a $10,000 donation from Patrick and Brittany Mahomes through the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation at the foundation’s gala.So Brittany’s latest Instagram Story continues an already established relationship between the Mahomes family and the Kansas City animal shelter.
