A piece of old Las Vegas glamour is back on the property market. The Las Vegas Review-Journal first reported the listing of Jay Sarno’s former residence, while current property records on Zillow and Realtor.com show the estate has been reduced to $1.997 million after initially being offered for $2.45 million. UNLV’s Special Collections also documents Sarno’s role in shaping the city’s casino history. Located at 221 Dalmatian Lane in the guard-gated Rancho Bel Air community, the 7,240-square-foot estate dates to 1978 and sits on roughly 0.86 acres. The property currently has eight bedrooms and seven bathrooms, along with five attached garage spaces, according to the current listing. For Las Vegas history buffs, however, its appeal goes well beyond the square footage. Sarno was the developer behind Caesars Palace, which opened on the Las Vegas Strip in 1966, and Circus Circus, which followed two years later. UNLV describes him as an influential figure in the development of themed casino resorts, with his properties helping reshape the city’s hospitality landscape. Sarno owned the Dalmatian Lane property from 1981 until his death in 1984, according to the property history cited by the Review-Journal. Public records show the home later changed hands several times, including a sale for $536,000 in May 2001.
Inside the historic estate
The house retains the kind of theatrical details associated with vintage Las Vegas. Its entrance opens into a grand foyer with 19-foot ceilings, marble floors, stained-glass windows and a custom beveled-glass doorway. Formal living and dining areas lead into a large family room with a wet bar, granite hearth and built-in surround sound.The kitchen has granite counters, dual Sub-Zero column refrigerators and stainless-steel appliances, while a dedicated wine cellar adds another distinctly old-school luxury touch. The primary suite includes dual vanities, cedar-lined closets, a jetted tub, steam shower, sitting area and private den. Outside, the estate has a 39-foot pool, spa and outdoor kitchen, surrounded by established grapefruit, lemon and pomegranate trees. A separate guest house provides its own kitchen, dining area, living room, bathroom and bedroom.The property’s connection to Las Vegas’ Rat Pack era is another part of its appeal. The current listing says the residence once welcomed figures from that period, including Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr., although those entertaining-history details are presented through the property’s marketing rather than independent archival documentation.
A long road from $536,000 to nearly $2 million
The latest price represents a substantial change from the $536,000 public-record sale in 2001. Zillow’s historical data also shows the home was previously marketed at prices ranging from about $1.08 million to $1.55 million during 2016 and 2017, before returning to the market at $1.5 million in 2019 and later being listed for $999,000 in 2020.After entering the current market at $2.45 million in June 2026, the asking price was subsequently reduced, reaching $1.997 million in September. The listing remains active, offering a rare chance to own a substantial residence tied directly to one of the most recognisable chapters in Las Vegas history.
