HATHRAS: A retired Army man and his wife were found hacked to death with a sharp-edged weapon at their house near the Agra bypass in Hathras on Sunday, with police forming five teams to identify the killers and determine the motive behind the murders.The victims were identified as Shamsuddin, 58, and his wife Saddo Begum, 55. Their bodies were found lying in a pool of blood at their house in the Sadabad Kotwali area.According to police, the killings took place during the night. The bodies were discovered around 9.30am on Sunday after the house did not open and people raised an alarm, following which police were informed.Superintendent of Police Chiranjeev Nath Sinha and Circle Officer Yogendra Krishna Narayan reached the spot along with police personnel and inspected the scene.Forensic experts and a dog squad were also called in to assist with the investigation.“Prima facie, it appears that they were killed with a sharp-edged weapon. Necessary legal action is being taken,” the SP said.He said the motive behind the killings was not immediately clear and five teams had been formed to identify the perpetrators and solve the case.Shamsuddin had retired from the Army around 20 years ago. Police said he had two wives and used to stay with them alternately.He had been staying with his first wife, Saddo Begum, at the house near the Agra bypass on Saturday night when the incident allegedly took place.(With PTI inputs)
