Choreographer Jani Master has landed in the middle of another controversy after senior choreographer Dinesh Master levelled serious allegations regarding the treatment of local dancers in the Telugu film industry. The dispute, centred on employment opportunities, hiring practices and union-related issues, has reportedly reached the Film Federation, intensifying discussions within the industry.Dinesh Master alleged that Jani Master has been overlooking Telugu dancers for major film projects and instead bringing performers from Mumbai. According to him, this practice has affected the livelihoods of many registered dancers based in Hyderabad who depend on film shoots for regular work, reports Money Control.
Claims over hiring practices and commissions
Among Dinesh Master’s key allegations is the claim that filmmakers, producers and actors are allegedly being informed that there are not enough local dancers available for large-scale productions, leading to dancers being hired from outside the state.He further alleged that commissions are being collected in connection with bringing dancers from Mumbai for film shoots. These accusations have generated widespread discussion across the Telugu film industry.However, Jani Master has not publicly responded to the allegations, and the claims remain unverified.
Film Federation reportedly steps in
The controversy has unfolded amid reports of strained relations between Jani Master and sections of the Film Federation. According to reports, remarks allegedly made by the choreographer on July 12 were viewed as damaging to the federation’s reputation.Jani Master was reportedly summoned to appear before the Film Federation on July 14 for an inquiry but did not attend. Following his absence, reports suggest that a show-cause notice was issued, giving him seven days to submit a written explanation along with any supporting evidence.The federation has also reportedly sought a public apology over the alleged remarks and warned that disciplinary action could follow if the matter is not resolved within the stipulated time.
Concerns over opportunities for local artistes
The dispute has once again highlighted concerns about employment opportunities for dancers working in the Telugu film industry. Hundreds of registered performers rely on film assignments as their primary source of income, and many within the fraternity have expressed fears that increasing dependence on dancers from outside the state could reduce opportunities for local talent.Dinesh Master has urged industry bodies to ensure fair opportunities for union members and called for greater transparency in the recruitment of dancers for big-budget productions.The latest allegations add to the controversies that have surrounded Jani Master in recent years.
