NEW DELHI: “I was crying and was in severe pain.” With these words, the 17-year-old survivor recounted to police the terrifying moments she endured inside Aastha Kunj Park Monday, when three men allegedly overpowered her, threatened her with knives and raped her after first posing as policemen.“Today (Sept 22) was my birthday. I wanted to visit Kalkaji Temple. I told my friend to take me to the temple. We reached Kalkaji around 5.45pm. After that, we had darshan at the temple till around 7pm,” she stated in the FIR.She said that after visiting the temple, she and her friend bought chips and a bottle of water from outside Kalkaji metro station. They then entered the park through Gate No. 7. She suggested that they sit in the park for some time, eat something and later go for darshan at Iskcon.‘I was very scared. I told them, speak to my mother’As soon as we entered through Gate No. 7 and sat on a bench near the swings and opened the packet of chips, three men, aged around 30-35 years, came from behind. As soon as they arrived, they caught hold of my friend and slapped him. When we asked who they were, they said they were policemen and asked why we had come there at that time. They said that coming there was not allowed,” she said.The men allegedly took her friend to the other side and also took away both their phones. Two of the accused then allegedly pointed towards the bushes and asked her to go there.“I was very scared. I told them, ‘Sir, ask whatever you want to ask here. Speak to my mother.’ At that time, one of the boys said, ‘Asif bhai, take out the gun,’” she said.According to her statement, the man they called Asif was wearing a purple shirt and was the most heavily built of the three. He allegedly took out a black gun from his jeans pocket and showed it to her before putting it back.The two men then allegedly took out knives and led her towards a dark area. She alleged that Asif removed her clothes and made her lie on a bench. He then allegedly told the other accused, “Hemu, keep watch so that no one comes from this side.”According to the statement, Asif then allegedly sexually assaulted her while holding a knife to her neck. “I was crying and was in severe pain,” she told police. She alleged that after the assault, Asif removed the condom and threw it near the bench before calling Hemu. “Hemu, you come. Till then I will go to Deepu.”Hemu allegedly took her to another nearby bench and assaulted her while holding a knife to her neck, the statement said. The third accused, whom the other two allegedly called Deepu, then came and allegedly assaulted her while also holding a knife to her neck.After the assault, the accused allegedly asked her to quickly put on her clothes.“They gave me only my T-shirt and jeans. They did not give me my undergarment. I put on my clothes and then they brought my friend to me as well,” she told police.TOI had earlier reported that the accused’s nicknames, clothes and physical descriptions provided by the survivor became key clues for police in identifying the trio. Cops had also recovered a used condom from the spot.The accused allegedly returned their phones and threatened to kill them if they did not leave immediately or told anyone about the incident. They then allegedly took the two out of Aastha Kunj Park.“I told my friend about the incident of rape committed against me by the three boys. My friend then made a PCR call. After that, the police officers came to us,” she said.
