NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended on Friday attended a ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Park in Delhi, on the occasion of Bharatiya Jana Sangh leader Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s 110th birth anniversary.The Prime Minister can be seen listening to the Bhajans while playing the headless tambourine or clapping along. The PM also waved to the gathered audience as he arrived for the event.PM Modi has praised Bhajan Clubbing in the past. In January this year, he had praised the youth for embracing the emerging trend of “bhajan-clubbing”, saying it is a powerful blend of devotion, culture, spirituality and modernity that resonates strongly with Gen Z.

‘Bhajan-clubbing’ — in which large groups, particularly youngsters, come together in community settings to sing bhajans and devotional songs — Modi said is “no less than global concerts”. He called it a wonderful effort to blend spirituality with modernity while preserving the sanctity of ‘bhajans’, in his monthly broadcast ‘Mann ki Baat’ that month.Then in July, PM Modi had once again praised the concept of “Bhajan Clubbing” during his visit to Australia, saying the trend reflected how young Indians were finding new ways to connect with faith and spirituality. “You must have heard about the new trend of ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ in India; it is being driven by our Gen Z. Here in Australia, too, I hear that your weekends are filled with faith and spirituality. Whether it is the Lord Satyanarayan Katha at someone’s home, Ardas at the Gurudwara, children performing Bhangra or Bharatanatyam, or a cricket tournament in progress–there is always something happening,” he had said at the time.
