MADURANTAKAM: Setting the stage for a high-decibel poll battle in Madurantakam, Tamil Nadu chief minister and TVK chief C Joseph Vijay launched a blistering attack on the opposition DMK, stating the upcoming byelection as a direct fight between his party and the “evil force” (thiya sakthi) of the Dravidian politics.Vijay delivered a sharp warning aimed at DMK president M K Stalin and his party leadership saying, “Don’t touch this Vijay, and don’t touch this TVK—you will severely regret it.”Addressing a massive gathering after a grand reception in the assembly constituency, Vijay accused the DMK of resorting to abusive language out of desperation. Drawing parallels to past political rivalries, he noted AIADMK leaders M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa had identified the DMK as a primary political enemy. “For Vijay, too, the same DMK is the ultimate political enemy,” he declared, accusing both the DMK and BJP of operating as two sides of the same coin.Dismissing DMK’s administrative record, Vijay challenged the state leadership on “rising public debt, unfulfilled promises and entrenched corruption.”“Can they openly promise that they won’t touch public money or engage in corruption?” he asked.Pointing out his party’s commitment to waiving farm loans and driving inclusive development, Vijay said, “TVK remains steadfastly aligned with public welfare,”.Appealing to his supporters to back TVK candidate K Maragatham with a decisive mandate, Vijay warned his opponents against political interference and underhanded tactics.“I haven’t come here as a chief minister; I have come as a member of your family,” he said.
