Professional singer Nick Lachey and television host Vanessa Lachey have put their former Los Angeles estate back on the market for nearly $8.2 million, completing an unusual real estate cycle involving four-time Grand Slam tennis champion Naomi Osaka. The 6,855-square-foot Tarzana mansion, in the San Fernando Valley, was originally owned by the Lacheys. They sold it to Osaka in 2022 for $6.3 million. Three years later, after moving back to California, the couple bought the property back from the tennis star for $7.95 million. While she owned the home, Osaka added several high-end fitness features. These included a separate 800-square-foot fitness center and a recovery suite with a sauna, steam room, cold plunge tub, and massage area. According to real estate reports from Mansion Global and Architectural Digest, the Lacheys have now listed the upgraded Cape Cod-style estate with The Agency agents Mauricio Umansky and Craig Knizek. The asking price is $8.195 million.
Trading luxury estates across celebrity hands
The property was originally the main California home of Nick and Vanessa Lachey, who bought the newly built estate in 2020. They put the home up for sale in 2022 after moving to Hawaii to film the television series NCIS: Hawai’i. Osaka bought the property as part of a wider expansion of her real estate holdings in Southern California. The purchase came after she sold a midcentury modern home in Beverly Hills that she had previously bought from musician Nick Jonas. Sports Illustrated reported that Osaka owned the Tarzana property for three years before the Lacheys contacted her about buying it back in 2025, after finishing their filming schedule in Hawaii. The sale gave Osaka $1.65 million more than the $6.3 million she paid in 2022. The increase reflected rising property values in the area as well as the major changes made to the home during her ownership.
Tailoring a residence for elite performance
Built in 2014, the main house has five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, high ceilings, and light oak hardwood floors. Other features include custom millwork, a chef’s kitchen with premium Miele appliances, and a large open-plan design that connects the indoor living spaces directly with outdoor terraces. The property covers about half an acre. The grounds include an infinity-edge swimming pool, hot tub, outdoor kitchen, and a full-sized sports court. During her ownership, Osaka ordered a major expansion that turned part of the grounds into a high-level training facility. The new structure included a custom gym featuring her personal emblem, along with specialized physical therapy equipment designed to help with recovery after training. A detailed feature report published by The Agency said these athletic additions remain fully intact. They give potential buyers access to specialized training facilities that are rarely found in typical homes.
Strategic moves in celebrity real estate
The Lacheys’ decision to list the house again for $8.2 million marks another move in the high-end Los Angeles property market. Real estate commentators at Architectural Digest said Osaka’s approach of buying distinctive homes from celebrities, customizing them, and later selling them for more has produced significant returns across her real estate holdings. Osaka’s current main residence has not been publicly disclosed. However, property records cited by Architectural Digest show that she no longer owns property in the San Fernando Valley after completing the Tarzana sale. The Lacheys’ current listing with The Agency carries an asking price that is nearly $2 million higher than the amount they originally received when they sold the property four years ago.
