Meta is in early talks to lease computing power to Anthropic in a deal that could be worth as much as $10 billion over two years, according to a New York Times report. Musk turned SpaceX’s Colossus data centers into a rental business earlier this year, and Anthropic became its anchor tenant. Anthropic would pay in monthly instalments across two years, with either side free to opt out early. Why Zuckerberg suddenly wants to rent out data centers

Meta plans to spend up to $145 billion this year, most of it on AI, more than double last year’s $72 billion. Wall Street has been uneasy, questioning whether that spend is justified when Meta’s own models trail those from Anthropic and OpenAI.Renting out spare capacity is Zuckerberg’s answer.
