Meta’s ‘highest-paid’ employee Alexandr Wang says sorry for ‘dumb joke’ after CTO tech company says he booked ticket through Muse AI agent
Alexandr Wang, recognised as Meta’s highest-paid employee, issued a quick lighthearted apology on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) after making a playful remark to a tech executive who used the company’s autonomous AI agent, Muse, to arrange air travel. The exchange unfolded when WebFlow CTO Utkarsh Sengar posted publicly about testing the capabilities of Meta’s AI tool to handle flight logistics.“Just booked plane tickets via Muse. Never going back,” Sengar shared online, praising the workflow of the reservation process. Responding to the post, Wang initially celebrated the milestone before offering a humorous piece of travel advice:“Awesome!!!” Wang replied, adding “But also i probably would recommend booking a return flight and going home at some point (sorry dumb joke).”
What is Meta Muse
Earlier this month, Meta launched an autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) assistant, Muse, capable of executing tasks such as sending emails, listing a car for sale and booking travel. With Muse, CEO Mark Zuckerberg aims to deliver “personal superintelligence” across Meta’s global platform. In a post on X, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote, “Introducing Muse, the personal agent that understands your goals and works 24/7 to get things done for you.”Initially limited to US users, Muse will operate through a standalone app and within Meta’s WhatsApp messaging platform. The company that for now, Muse launches on iOS, Android and the web, with free and paid tiers, and support for AI glasses coming soon.Based on the open-source OpenClaw framework, Muse functions by linking directly to a user’s calendar, email, financial services, smart home hardware and health platforms. The company said that users must manually grant permissions for each service and the model allows them to revoke access at any point.As per the company, each Muse instance runs within an isolated, cloud-based virtual machine designed to emulate an individual personal computer. This architecture allows the software to execute long-running tasks autonomously in the background without requiring continuous user interaction.
