‘One inspection, all Noida schools shut?’: Education department fact-checks Saurav Das’s claim | Noida News
NOIDA: A claim by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das that all government schools in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar district were ordered to shut immediately after his team inspected a school in Noida has been refuted by the district education department.In a post on X, Das claimed that all government schools in Gautam Buddh Nagar had been directed to close immediately and linked the alleged action to the CJP’s inspection of a school in Noida.He also questioned what the Uttar Pradesh government was trying to hide.

However, the District Basic Education Officer (DBEO), Gautam Buddh Nagar, said the claim was false and misleading and clarified that no such closure order had been issued.In an office order issued on Tuesday, DBEO Rahul Panwar said a misleading message had been circulated on social media by Das stating: “All government Schools in Gautam Buddh Nagar in UP have been directed to be CLOSED immediately.”The officer said the statement was “completely false/misleading” and was being thoroughly refuted.“All council schools (government primary/upper primary schools) in Gautam Buddh Nagar district are functioning as per the timetable set by the administration and the department, and no order regarding the closure of any school has been issued,” Panwar said in the order.

The clarification came after the CJP took its ‘School Theek Karo’ campaign to Noida on Tuesday.Das had announced an audit of schools in the city and urged young people across Uttar Pradesh to inspect schools in their neighbourhoods.Das had said the team would visit schools in Noida to assess the conditions in which children were studying and document its findings.He also said Noida was considered one of the better districts in Uttar Pradesh and that the team would assess whether its schools matched that perception.The CJP spokesperson had also appealed to young people in Uttar Pradesh to conduct school audits in their respective areas and document the condition of schools and the education being provided to children.The CJP launched its nationwide ‘School Theek Karo’ campaign in August, describing it as a social-audit drive focused on government schools and basic facilities.Its first audit was conducted at a government school in Santuk Pimpri village of Maharashtra’s Hingoli district, where CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke highlighted issues including lack of drinking water, benches, dirty washrooms, broken windows and inadequate water supply.Subsequent CJP audits have also focused on classrooms, drinking-water facilities, toilets, benches and material used for preparing midday meals.(With agency inputs)
