‘Intention of accused was to kill’: DCP Sandeep Kumar on Gurgaon hit-and-run case; 2 arrested | Gurgaon News
GURGAON: The accused car driver allegedly intended to kill the woman biker he rammed into on Golf Course Road, Gurgaon DCP Sandeep Kumar said on Tuesday, as police arrested him and his cousin in connection with the case.Police arrested Kalyan Singh Bainsla and his cousin Lavish after tracing them to Rajasthan.The DCP said attempt-to-murder charges were added based on the victim’s statement and CCTV footage, which allegedly showed Bainsla deliberately ramming his car into the woman’s bike, indicating an alleged attempt to kill her.Police have also added Sections 78 and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in the case, he said.The DCP said Bainsla had borrowed the car from a friend and allegedly used it in the incident. According to police, he runs gyms in Palwal.After giving his statement to the media, Bainsla fled to Rajasthan, from where he and Lavish were arrested, police said.Bainsla later allegedly tried to flee from police custody but fell and suffered injuries before being apprehended again, police spokesman Sandeep Turan said.According to Turan, Bainsla told police that he wanted to urinate before trying to escape. He fell while attempting to flee and sustained injuries before police caught him again.“We are yet to interrogate both of them, but Kalyan passed obscene comments too,” DCP Sandeep Kumar said.Police said the attempt-to-murder sections were added after investigators analysed CCTV footage from the area and recorded the victim’s statement. Section 109 of the BNS, which deals with attempt to murder, was subsequently added to the FIR.
