NEW DELHI: Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub owners Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, along with their business partner Ajay Gupta, surrendered before a Goa court on Monday. Two weeks after the Supreme Court refused to interfere with the cancellation of their bail, the accused surrendered in the case over the December 2025 fire that killed 25 people.They turned themselves in before the Mapusa additional district and sessions court after the Supreme Court directed them to surrender within two weeks. Advocate Saumya Drago, who represents the accused, said the court accepted their surrender and issued the necessary remand orders.Drago also said the defence filed an application seeking medical accommodations for the three men based on their medical history, doctors’ prescriptions and medical records. The court allowed their requests for medicines and a mattress but kept the request for special footwear pending. It sought a response from the investigating officer, with the matter expected to be taken up on the next working day, she said.

It also directed the trial court to expedite the proceedings.The Bombay high court had cancelled the trio’s bail on August 18, citing the seriousness of the case and the need for further legal proceedings. The accused then moved the Supreme Court against the order.The fire broke out at the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora, North Goa, on December 6, 2025. It killed 25 people and injured several others.The chargesheet filed in the case accuses the three men of offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder, acts endangering human life, negligent conduct with respect to fire and combustible matter, forgery, using forged documents as genuine and criminal conspiracy.The chargesheet alleged that “irresponsible acts” of the accused resulted in the deaths of 25 people in the mass-casualty incident, causing “irreparable loss” to their families.
