Superman star Nicholas Hoult has sold his longtime Los Angeles home for $2.2 million, taking a loss on the Hollywood Hills property after more than a year on the market. The actor had purchased the midcentury modern residence for $2.33 million in 2018, meaning the final sale price came in about $130,000 below his original investment, before accounting for transaction costs.Hoult, 36, first listed the property in February 2025 for $2.95 million, hoping to secure a substantial return on the home he had owned for seven years.However, the property remained on the market for more than a year without finding a buyer. The actor gradually reduced the asking price, eventually bringing it down to $2.4 million in March 2026.According to Realtor, property records now show that the sale has closed at $2.2 million, making the final figure lower than both the last asking price and what Hoult originally paid for the home in 2018.The Hollywood Hills residence was one of two properties Hoult owned in California. He continues to own a five-bedroom beach house in the Naples neighborhood of Long Beach, which he purchased for $2.6 million in 2022. The actor is also understood to maintain a primary residence in London.

Located in the upscale Outpost Estates community, Hoult’s former Los Angeles home is markedly different from his Cape Cod-style beach house.The midcentury modern property sits on a hillside parcel surrounded by mature trees, offering both privacy and sweeping views of Los Angeles. When it was listed, the home was marketed as capturing the essence of classic midcentury architecture while incorporating contemporary comforts.The design centers on indoor-outdoor living, with the main living room positioned at the heart of the residence. A dramatic butterfly roofline and extensive glass walls frame the surrounding city views.An open-plan dining area connects to the living space, while a balcony provides additional seating and another vantage point over the Hollywood Hills.The main level also features a remodeled kitchen fitted with high-end appliances and a sizeable breakfast bar designed for more casual meals.
Actor’s love of cooking adds personal touch to property

Hoult has previously spoken about his enjoyment of cooking when he is away from work, making the home’s kitchen particularly fitting for the actor.“I do quite enjoy cooking when I’m not working,” Hoult told People in 2022. “When I’m working, I just don’t cook at all basically, and then when I get time off I like to putter around in the kitchen. I’m not very good, but I like to do it.”The home’s three bedrooms are located on the lower level, accessed via a sculptural floating staircase. They include a spacious primary suite and two oversized guest bedrooms.The primary bedroom has a clean, contemporary design, with large glass doors opening onto a private terrace. Steps from the terrace lead down toward the yard and pool area.

The home’s elevated position gives the outdoor area a secluded feel. Dense greenery surrounds the garden, creating a natural privacy screen around the pool and entertaining areas.The property is believed to have served as one of Hoult’s primary California bases for several years. He purchased the residence in 2018, shortly before he and his wife, model Bryana Holly, welcomed their first child.The couple welcomed a second child in 2022 and have generally kept their family life away from the spotlight.

Following the 2026 Oscars, speculation about Hoult and Holly’s family grew after a designer appeared to suggest on Instagram that Holly had recently given birth.The speculation stemmed from a response posted by fashion brand Lurelly after an Instagram user accused Holly of having undergone cosmetic surgery. The brand replied with a comment referencing a “new born baby.”Neither Hoult nor Holly publicly addressed the speculation.The couple is understood to remain based in the greater Los Angeles area. In an April 2025 interview with i-D magazine, Hoult said he was living in California with his two children.
From British television to Hollywood
Hoult moved to Los Angeles as his international acting career gained momentum, having first established himself in the UK.He began acting as a child and landed his breakthrough film role in About a Boy, opposite Hugh Grant. He later became widely known for playing Tony Stonem in the acclaimed British series Skins.His early success in Britain eventually led to major Hollywood opportunities.
