SC registry urged to list defamation case against Rahul Gandhi | India News
NEW DELHI: The complainant who had filed a criminal defamation case against leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi for his claim of Chinese incursions into Indian territory Wednesday complained to SC that the registry is not listing the appeal for hearing, apparently because of the personality involved.Appearing for Uttar Pradesh govt, senior advocate Gaurav Bhatia said SC had stayed the proceedings in the criminal defamation case against Rahul on Aug 4 last year and despite a specific date being given by the court for hearing Rahul’s appeal, the SC registry has not listed the matter.Rahul’s counsel S Prasanna objected to Bhatia’s contention and requested the court to not take cognisance of it.The CJI Surya Kant led bench told Bhatia to make an application seeking early hearing of the appeal so that the mattercould be posted for hearing.
