External affairs minister S Jaishankar on Thursday met Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his visit to Kyiv, with discussions focusing on bilateral cooperation and possible approaches to ending the ongoing conflict, Jaishankar said.“Pleased to call on President @ZelenskyyUa today #Ukraine,” Jaishankar said in a post on X.He said he also briefed Zelenskyy on his discussions with Ukrainian foreign minister Andrii Sybiha on strengthening bilateral ties.“Apprised him of discussions with FM @andrii_sybiha on deepening our bilateral cooperation,” Jaishankar said.

“Our conversation centered on approaches to end the ongoing conflict,” he added.Earlier, EAM Jaishankar had met Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha for bilateral discussions, during which he reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message that “this is not an era of war”.Jaishankar also expressed sorrow over the death of an Indian national in an attack in Kyiv, placing the loss in the wider human cost of the conflict.“Only two days ago, an Indian national was also killed in an attack in Kyiv. We join in mourning every life lost and convey our deepest sympathy to every affected family,” the EAM said.The visit comes after Jaishankar met Russian president Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin during his two-day official visit to Russia, on August 24.
