CNG price hike: Compressed natural gas gets costlier; check city-wise rates
IGL has raised CNG prices in Delhi-NCR by Rs 3.89 per kg

Compressed natural gas (CNG) consumers in Delhi and several other cities will have to pay more from Saturday, with Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) announcing a Rs 3.89 per kg increase in prices amid a sharp rise in the cost of imported liquefied natural gas (LNG). The revised rates will come into effect from August 29.CNG will now cost Rs 86.98 per kg in Delhi while in Noida and Ghaziabad, the revised price will be Rs 95.59 per kg. Gurugram consumers will pay Rs 92.01 per kg.IGL said the price revision was driven by higher international LNG prices, as a large portion of the gas used for CNG comes from imports. Spot LNG prices have risen sharply since the Middle East conflict began.“With international LNG prices remaining elevated and the cost impact becoming increasingly significant, a calibrated revision of Rs 3.89 per kg has now become necessary to partially offset the increase in input gas cost,” IGL said.

How much CNG costs in your city

City CNG price per kg
Delhi Rs 86.98
Noida Rs 95.59
Ghaziabad Rs 95.59
Muzaffarnagar Rs 95.47
Meerut Rs 95.47
Shamli Rs 95.47
Gurugram Rs 92.01
Rewari Rs 91.59
Karnal Rs 91.32
Kaithal Rs 92.32
Kanpur Rs 98.31
Hamirpur Rs 98.31
Fatehpur Rs 98.31
Ajmer Rs 96.33
Pali Rs 96.33
Rajsamand Rs 96.33
Mahoba Rs 93.31
Banda Rs 93.31
Chitrakoot Rs 93.31
Hapur Rs 96.59
Gautam Budh Nagar Rs 95.59
Greater Noida Rs 95.59

CNG prices differ across states because of variations in value-added tax structures, similar to petrol and diesel. The latest hike is the fifth increase in CNG prices this year and comes after the previous revision in May, when IGL raised prices by a cumulative Rs 6 per kg in four phases over 10 days. That increase followed a global rise in energy prices amid the Middle East conflict.Higher CNG prices have also affected freight and passenger fares in Delhi-NCR, where most auto-rickshaws, taxis and goods carriers run on the fuel. The conflict has continued for almost six months, while crude prices have risen above $90 per barrel. However, prices remain well below the earlier peak of $126 per barrel recorded during the previous phase of the conflict.
