JSW MG Motor India has launched the new Hector Tomahawk in India, a new seven-seater SUV that joins the company’s line-up. The model has been introduced with both pure-electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The Hector Tomahawk EV comes at a starting price of Rs 19.49 lakh, ex-showroom.The Hector Tomahawk EV is also available under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme, with prices starting at Rs 13.99 lakh + Rs 4.90/km battery rental. The PHEV BaaS price starts at Rs 21.79 lakh + Rs 3.20/km battery rental, for a limited number of bookings. Here’s a quick look at all the details you should know. Bookings are now open, with EV deliveries starting in September 2026. PHEV test drives and deliveries will begin in November 2026.MG Hector Tomahawk EV: Details The EV uses a 69.2 kWh battery paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 150 kW and 310 Nm. It has a claimed 517 km rangeand supports 90 kW DC fast charging. The EV is available in both five- and seven-seat layouts.MG has also equipped the SUV with 18 connected apps, along with what the company describes as India’s first Gen AI with karaoke. The SUV measures 4,745 mm in length,1,850 mm in width and 1,770 mm in height, with a 2,810 mm wheelbase. It gets a 15.6-inch HD display for infotaiment, 8.0-inch driver’s display, Level 2 ADAS and i-SMART 3.0 with more than 80 connected features.The Hector Tomahawk is the first MG model in India to be based on the company’s ADAPT platform, or Advance Drive Architecture Platform Technology. The architecture has been developed to support multiple electrified powertrains, including pure EVs, series hybrids, parallel hybrids and direct-engine-drive configurations.In terms of design, the Hector Tomahawk gets a large and upright SUV profile. MG says the styling draws inspiration from an iconic Allied fighter aircraft used during World War II. The SUV features a long bonnet, high ground clearance, prominent wheel arches and muscular bodywork.At the front, it gets parallel, opposite-facing LED DRLs with rectangular headlamps. The side profile features chunky body cladding and diamond-cut alloy wheels.
MG Hector Tomahawk: EV and plug-in hybrid
The Hector Tomahawk has been unveiled with both EV and plug-in hybrid powertrain options. The electric version offers a claimed 517 km range, while the plug-in hybrid version gives 115 km of pure electric range. The PHEV combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine, dedicated hybrid transmission and a 20.5 kWh battery. Overall, it offers over 1,100 km range using both a fully charged battery and one full fuel tank. It gets a 148 kW electric motor and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in around 9 seconds.
