Andhra family of 5 found hanging in suicide pact at Srisailam pilgrim lodge | Amaravati News
TIRUPATI: Five members of a family allegedly committed suicide in a mass pact at the Vaddera Choultries in the temple town of Srisailam in Nandyal district.The deceased have been identified as Gogula Adi Lakshmi (50), Malleswari (45), P Sudhakar (36), Sridevi (33) and Manikanta (15), all hailing from Bathalapalli village in Sri Sathya Sai district.According to preliminary investigations, the family had been staying at the pilgrim accommodation complex for nearly a month. Choultry staff grew suspicious when the family had not been seen outside for two days and a strong foul smell began emanating from the room.Upon breaking open the door, staff discovered three women dead inside the bathroom and two others found hanging from the ceiling fan.The staff alerted the authorities, following which a team led by Atmakur DSP Ramanjaneyulu reached the scene to initiate a probe.Police suspect severe financial distress led the family to take the extreme step. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
