J&K CM Omar Abdullah asks police, security agencies to take poster threatening Kashmir Pandit employees seriously
Omar Abdullah flags fresh threats targeting Kashmiri Pandit employees

SRINAGAR: A new poster issued by the little-known United Liberation Council (ULC) threatening Kashmiri Pandits led community members working in the Kashmir Valley under the PM Package for Kashmiri Migrants and Non-Migrant Kashmiri Pandits to write to J&K chief secretary Atal Dulloo seeking enhanced security. Chief minister Omar Abdullah described the threats as “highly concerning.”The poster contains the personal details of some Kashmiri Pandit employees, including addresses.Omar, talking to reporters here, urged police and law-and-order agencies not to take the threats lightly. He said the agencies have a responsibility to provide security to Kashmiri Pandit employees and urged them to proactively investigate the source of the threats.“In a similar situation around two and a half years ago, some Pandit employees were targeted,” Omar said. He said security and law-and-order arrangements in J&K are under the control of the lieutenant-governor.The police have issued any statement on the fresh threat. The chief secretary was not available for comment.According to a letter from All PM Package Employees’ Forum to the CS, “a fresh threat poster, purportedly issued by a terrorist outfit calling itself the United Liberation Council (ULC) on Aug 23, 2026, has surfaced on social media. The poster reportedly contains threats directed towards migrant Kashmiri Pandit employees and … details such as names, addresses and vehicle numbers of certain individuals.”While the forum said the “authenticity of the poster is yet to be verified by police and security agencies”, it added that “the repeated circulation of such threat letters and posters, particularly those containing sensitive personal information, is a matter of grave concern”.The forum sought a review of security arrangements at places of posting, residential accommodation and transit routes of PM Package employees. It said govt should ensure that employees whose names, addresses or vehicle details have appeared in such threats receive immediate protection and necessary security guidance. All Minority Employees Association president Sanjay Kaul said the Aug 23 poster was the third in 20 days. “We are only here for work. We take such threat letters seriously as they contain names and even numbers of vehicles of some Pandit employees,” Kaul said. “Before 2022 we were working fearlessly, but not now. We seek a thorough probe,” he added.
