JPMorgan Chase has submitted a fresh workforce reduction notice to New Jersey employment regulators, detailing plans to eliminate 63 positions at its Jersey City location. The workforce adjustments represent the fifth separate filing the financial institution has lodged with state authorities this year, raising the cumulative count of job cuts at the Jersey City facility to 541 workers, according to a report.Citing the official Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) paperwork submitted to the state, nj.com reported that the newly disclosed role eliminations started on August 19 and will continue till November 15.

The banking institution has steadily phased in job reductions across its New Jersey operations throughout the calendar year.
- February notice: Disclosed plans affecting 120 roles, taking effect on May 3.
- March notice: Filed for 134 positions, taking effect on June 20.
- May notice: Covered 51 staff members, taking effect on August 3.
- July notice: Targeted 172 employees at the Jersey City hub, taking effect on July 8.
Company response and regulatory context
Addressing the ongoing workplace adjustments, JPMorgan Chase spokesperson Michael Fusco explained in a July statement that the moves are standard practice for the company.“This is part of our regular management of the business. We regularly review our business needs and adjust our staffing accordingly – creating new roles where we see the need or reducing positions when appropriate,” he said.Under federal statutory requirements established by the WARN Act, companies maintaining a workforce of 100 or more employees are required to deliver at least 60 days of prior notification before executing facility shutdowns or large-scale layoffs.
