'Toxic' advance booking report: Yash-starrer off to a flying start at the box office; opening day collections headed for Rs 20 crore mark

Yash’s much-awaited action thriller ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ is off to a good start, ahead of its worldwide release on August 26, with the film’s advance bookings already pointing towards a double-digit opening at the box office.

‘Toxic’ headed for Rs 20 crore advance booking

According to Sacnilk, ‘Toxic’ has so far recorded an estimated Rs 10.94 crore gross in India through advance bookings for Day 1. The Kannada-language version is leading the advance sales, while the Hindi version has also contributed significantly to the total. The current language-wise advance booking figures stand at approximately Rs 7.20 crore for Kannada and Rs 3.70 crore for Hindi, with Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam versions making up the remaining amount. As per the report, the film is already on its way to the Rs 20 crore mark, with Rs 18.27 crore in its kitty, while accounting for blocked seats.

Karnataka leads advance bookings

Karnataka is emerging as the biggest contributor to Toxic’s opening-day advance sales. The Yash-starrer has recorded an estimated Rs 7.28 crore gross from the state alone, considering that it is the actor’s home market. The film’s advance sales in the state are already approaching the Rs 5 crore mark in ticket sales, despite the release still being several days away.Gujarat currently ranks second among the top-performing regions, with its gross collection, including blocked seats, standing at around Rs 1.07 crore. Delhi rounds off the top three with an estimated gross of approximately Rs 93 lakh.

Toxic advance booking in USA

The film is also generating interest in the international market, particularly North America. According to data tracked by Venky Box Office, the film has so far recorded USD 163,150 in advance sales for its USA premieres. The figure has been generated across 260 locations and 709 shows, with approximately 7,545 tickets sold so far. However, the film’s current pace in the US is reportedly slower than the pre-release trajectory witnessed by Yash’s previous blockbuster ‘KGF: Chapter 2’. That said, the comparison may not yet provide a complete picture of the film’s eventual overseas performance, as full-fledged advance bookings have not opened across all major chains and territories.

‘Toxic’ gets A certificate in India

Adding to the film’s adult-oriented positioning is its restrictive certification in both India and the UK. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has awarded Toxic an ‘A’ certificate, restricting the film to adult audiences in India. In the UK, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has given the film an 18 rating, its highest restrictive classification. The BBFC has reportedly flagged themes and sequences involving threats, drugs, sexual violence and self-harm, with violence, sex and injury detail receiving the highest content ratings.
