The moment you step into El Pueblo, your inner ear starts screaming that something’s wrong.All the buildings, storefronts, and even the street you walk on seem tilted and distorted. Architecturally, the ground is basically flat. But visually, it’s not. You won’t really be able to shake the feeling that you’re climbing. When you are walking, you feel like you’re falling forwards because the illusion is that good! In order to compensate, you will start to lean back, and the muscles will feel like you’re ascending a steep hill. But there’s no hill. Just clever angles, strategic proportions, and a landscape exclusively designed to fool your brain! The longer you stay, the harder the illusion gets.

There are two paths – The Path of Feeling and The Path of Doing. The first leans into the sensory, the meditative, and the disorienting. The Way of Dwarfs and Giants will make you doubt your own size. The Xensatorium, a cave, will lead you through different ecosystems: sea, jungle, desert, and meadows. The tricks only get better. The Path of Doing goes in the opposite direction: it’s all about kinetic activities and is built for the adrenaline rush. Think ziplines and waterslides that drop into caverns. Most visitors do both, which means five hours of your brain trying to figure out what’s happening.This isn’t an experience for the faint of heart. It’s bizarre, unsettling, and fun. The park operates Monday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Ticket prices start at $71 for adults and $54 for kids if purchased in advance. The park is located approximately 5.5 miles south of Playa del Carmen. The minimum age for visitors is five. If you are planning to visit, ensure you wear comfortable shoes.
