Jain arrested at BJP’s behest, alleges AAP; money trail established, claims BJP | Delhi News
NEW DELHI: AAP Tuesday alleged former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain was arrested by ACB “at the behest of BJP” in another “fake case”. BJP dismissed the charges, saying Delhi govt’s Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) had established the money trail of the alleged embezzlement before arresting Jain and others.Jain, who is currently the co-in-charge of AAP in Punjab, which will likely go to polls early next year, and five others were arrested by ACB in connection with an alleged 2024 corruption case linked to Delhi Jal Board.“Everyone still remembers the ordeal they put him through by throwing him in jail. The previous case was fabricated too, and this case will also be proven to be fake. How long will BJP’s dictatorship continue like this? Whoever they feel like, they slap false charges on and toss them into jail. Their lies will once again be exposed before the nation, but who will compensate for the time spent in jail and the mental torture endured? The pitcher of BJP’s sins has now overflowed. No matter how much dictatorship they resort to, the end of the Modi govt is now certain. The entire AAP and the people of the country stand firmly with Satyendar Jain ji,” AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said in a post on X.In 2022, Jain was arrested in connection with a money laundering case. He got bail in Oct 2024 after spending nearly 18 months in jail.Former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia linked the arrest with the upcoming Punjab assembly elections due in 2027. AAP currently is in power in the state.“Just before elections, AAP’s co-in-charge in Punjab has been arrested. Earlier too, Jain was kept in jail for two-and-a-half years in a fake case, and now again… another fake case. From the GenZ movement to the Ram Temple donation scam and the E20 issue, BJP, which is cornered on all fronts, has now resorted once more to the ED-ACB-CBI’s old election-time tactics,” Sisodia said.Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra, however, said the arrests have been made after a thorough investigation into the case registered on May 11, 2024, in connection with the STP scam in DJB during AAP’s term.“ACB has clearly stated in its findings that the entire money trail of the alleged embezzlement has been established, and that the distribution of the allegedly misappropriated money trail among the then minister, officials and contractors has also been established. The STP scam and the arrests in the case have made it clear why not a single STP was installed on any drain during the 10 years of the Kejriwal govt and why the Yamuna became even more polluted during those 10 years,” Malhotra said, adding that “law may take some time, but Satyendar Jain will certainly be punished”.
