PM Modi highlighted the expansion of the country’s piped natural gas network.

Stressing on the need for energy security, PM Narendra Modi in his Independence Day speech said that due to the government’s measures there is no shortage of gas, fuel, and urea in the country today. His statement comes amidst the ongoing US-Iran conflict which has choked key energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz.He said that urea that is being imported at Rs 3,000 is being made available to farmers for Rs 300.PM Modi highlighted the expansion of the country’s piped natural gas network. He said that while piped gas infrastructure was available in only 70 cities 12 years ago, it has now expanded to 700 cities. He added that 1.75 crore households across the country are currently connected to piped gas lines.Speaking about the country’s long-term energy strategy, the Prime Minister stressed that energy security is a key national priority.
