The Formula E World Championship finale kickstarted in the UK with the London E-Prix on Friday. The first free practice, FP1, was held in the evening and had Jaguar TCS Racing driver Mitch Evans topping the timesheets. Andretti’s Jake Dennis, who is just two points ahead of Evans in the title race, finished fifth in the practice race. The main races will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the London ExCeL Circuit.

Jaguar TCS Racing gave Evans a pleasant surprise by giving him a special helmet with the message “To a decade of memories” written on it. Graphic images from Evans’ Formula E victories also featured on the helmet. The Kiwi driver would be leaving the team at the end of the season and this is his last race weekend with the team in London.Evans was followed by Mahindra Racing driver Nyck De Vries in second in FP1. Porsche driver Pascal Wehrlein, who is just five points behind Dennis and stands third in title race, finished third in the practice race. DS Penske driver Taylor Barnard took the fourth position followed by Dennis in fifth. Dennis had bit of a moment on track but he was able to keep clear of the barriers and was able to return to the track.Jaguar TCS Racing driver Antonio Felix Da Costa finished sixth, followed by Mahindra Racing’s Edoardo Mortara in seventh and Porsche driver Nico Muller in eighth. Envision Racing’s Sebastien Buemi was ninth while Citroen Racing’s Nick Cassidy was tenth in FP1. After the season finale, Buemi will also be leaving Envision Racing along with teammate Joel Eriksson.

A video of him looking elated on watching his dad on TV while wearing headphones was shared on X.The London E-Prix marks the finale race weekend of the Formula E World Championship before the season 12 comes to a close. Dennis leads the title race, followed by Mitch Evans and Pascal Wehrlein in close proximity. Reigning champion Oliver Rowland is fourth, followed by Edoardo Mortara.The Round 16 race will start on Saturday at 3:05pm (7:35pm IST).
