How does Brittany Mahomes manage a $325M franchise, a fitness brand, and three kids all at once?
Brittany Mahomes is a founding co-owner of the Kansas City Current, an NWSL franchise valued at $325 million in 2026 (Instagram)

On August 3, Brittany Mahomes attended the opening of KC Current Studios in Kansas City, unveiling the new broadcasting facility at a ribbon-cutting ceremony, with two of her three kids in tow, counting them down to a mic moment. Sterling, 5, and Bronze, 3, shouted “KC Baby!” into the microphone to a cheering crowd while their mom, a co-founder of a $325 million NWSL franchise, beamed beside them. Patrick was 52 miles away at Chiefs training camp. This is just another Monday for Brittany Mahomes: owner, entrepreneur, mother of three, and quietly one of the most influential women in American sports.

From College Soccer to a $325M franchise: How Brittany Mahomes built real ownership

People often forget that Brittany Mahomes played professional soccer before any of this. After a standout collegiate career at the University of Texas at Tyler, where she became the first player in program history to score three hat-tricks in a single season, she signed with Icelandic club UMF Afturelding as a soccer forward. It was a short stint, but it was real. She knew what elite women’s sports looked like from the inside. When the NWSL awarded an expansion team to Kansas City in December 2020, Brittany was there from day one as a founding co-owner. That team became the Kansas City Current. Patrick joined the ownership group in 2023, but Brittany had already spent years laying the groundwork alongside Kansas City-based financial executives Angie and Chris Long. She holds a kinesiology degree from UT Tyler and has spoken openly about her genuine appreciation for what these women do on the field every day.Forbes valued the Kansas City Current at $325 million in April 2026, up 18% from the previous year — the second-highest valuation in the NWSL, behind only Angel City FC at $340 million. The Longs privately financed the $140 million construction of CPKC Stadium, which opened in 2024 as the first stadium in the world built specifically for a women’s professional sports team. Last July, the club broke ground on a three-tiered $52 million expansion. KC Current Studios adds a full broadcast and production hub to that infrastructure, complete with a podcast recording studio, video suite, and production control room, all designed to develop the next generation of women in sports media.Brittany’s role is not ceremonial. When the ribbon gets cut, she is the one holding the scissors.

What is Brittany Lynne Fitness and why is it still growing?

The fitness brand did not come out of nowhere. When Brittany retired from soccer in 2017 and moved back to Kansas City, she became a certified personal trainer. During the 2020 pandemic, she developed workout plans for her then-boyfriend Patrick and founded Brittany Lynne Fitness, an online workout brand. It caught on fast. Her pitch is unusually direct. On her website, she describes the programming plainly: “Training like Britt means many things: working hard, staying dedicated, not making excuses, and most of all, no BS. These programs are designed to tone, grow muscle and get STRONG. Don’t be afraid to lift heavy and push yourself.” It does not read like a celebrity wellness brand. It reads like something written by a former athlete who knows how training actually works. In 2022, she extended the brand with a fitness activewear line called Sterling Skye, a collaboration with Shop Vitality named after her eldest daughter. She wanted the line to inspire Sterling to know she could do anything she put her mind to. Whether that reads as smart marketing or genuine sentiment, it works as both.In April 2026, a video of Brittany pushing through an intense gym session went viral. The moment felt real and unfiltered, showing the hard side of training where discipline matters most — not a polished fitness post, but something relatable. Her estimated personal net worth stands at $15 million, built through equity shares in the Kansas City Current, brand partnerships, and the fitness platform.

Three kids under six: What does the parenting side of this actually look like?

Sterling Skye, born February 2021. Bronze Lavon Mahomes III, born November 2022. Golden Raye, born January 12, 2025. Three children, all under the age of six, in a household where both parents are running high-profile public lives at the same time. The logistics alone are considerable.Brittany Mahomes has spoken candidly about having a nanny, a chef, and security — but she does not appear to be the type of mom who offloads her kids with the nanny all the time. The family took a trip to the Bahamas in March 2026, and she spends consistent quality time with the children. A week into August, she was in Hawaii with the kids while Patrick remained at Chiefs training camp in Missouri. The children themselves are turning into small personalities. Sterling already plays soccer and attended her own dance recital in June. Bronze can name every NFL team. Golden, still a toddler, is the newest addition to a family that makes organized chaos look manageable. At the KC Current Studios opening, asked which of the three was most likely to listen to mom and dad the first time, Brittany laughed and said, “None of them.“

Is Brittany Mahomes actually changing women’s sports, or is it just the name?

This is a fair question and it deserves a direct answer. High-profile co-ownership deals in women’s sports have become something of a pattern in recent years. Celebrity names on ownership groups generate press. Not all of them translate into structural investment.Kansas City Current is different. CPKC Stadium was the first of its kind globally. The $52 million expansion project is actively underway. KC Current Studios, which opened August 3, is a purpose-built facility with a production control room, broadcast studio, podcast suites, and a community education component focused on developing women in sports media. These are not announcements. They are buildings with addresses.Brittany’s involvement carries credibility that pure investors lack. She played the game. She has the kinesiology degree. She built the fitness platform from scratch during a pandemic. She was a founding co-owner before Patrick joined the group, and she has described her passion for the Current as rooted in her background as a soccer player: “We are so thrilled to make this a family affair and have Patrick join as an owner. He has been a huge supporter behind the scenes. His passion for the Current is undeniable.” In February 2026, she was named one of six women on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit digital cover alongside fellow athletes and WAGs– a measure of cultural visibility that now runs parallel to genuine sporting credibility. The Kansas City Current finished first in the NWSL regular season in 2025 before falling to Gotham FC in the first round of the playoffs. The franchise is still chasing its first championship. But the business around it keeps growing, and Brittany Mahomes is not a passenger in that story. She is one of the people building it, one ribbon-cutting, one workout clip, one school run at a time.
