BHUBANESWAR: A woman was allegedly gangraped by a group of men in Odisha’s Cuttack district while she was out on a drive with a male friend, police said on Wednesday.The incident took place in the Nischintakoili police station area on Tuesday night, they said.According to police, the woman and her friend were travelling towards Kendrapara from Bhubaneswar when they stopped near Sukarpada village on the Cuttack-Chandbali Road.A group of four to six men allegedly intercepted them and assaulted the woman’s friend before sexually assaulting the woman, SP (Cuttack Rural) Vinit Agrawal said.“The group fled the spot, leaving the two there,” Agrawal said.Police registered a case based on the woman’s complaint and appointed a DSP-rank officer to investigate the matter.“Multiple teams have been formed to nab the accused. We are hopeful that they will be arrested soon,” Agrawal said.(With PTI inputs)
