Google Drive is ending Google Photos backup starting August 10: What settings users need to change before deadline to ensure not losing photos and videos

Google has confirmed that its Drive desktop app will stop supporting automatic Google Photos backup starting August 10, 2026. The change means that the users who rely on Drive’s desktop client to sync photos and videos from their computers will no longer see a new media automatically backed up to Google Photos. The company said that this move is part of its effort to simplify backup tools and also focus on dedicated photo management via the Photos app. “Google Drive for desktop ends support for Google Photos backup on August 10, 2026. What is changing for Google Photos users
