However, with the sloganeering continuing, the bill was put to a voice vote and passed.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"8\"\/>Following the passage of the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, the House was adjourned for the day.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"10\"\/>On May 5, the Union Cabinet approved the introduction of the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026 in Parliament. The legislation seeks to amend the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Act, 1956, which provides for an increase in the number of Supreme Court judges, excluding the Chief Justice.<\/p>\n<div
