The world&#8217;s leading AI companies believe they could be close to automating AI research,\u201d the letter stated adding \u201cthere is a real risk that capability development rapidly accelerates beyond our ability to understand or control the resulting systems\u201d.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"11\"\/>The signatories called for international coordination to develop technical and governance tools for what they describe as &#8220;automated AI development. \u201cWe request that the U.S. government support an international effort to develop the technical and governance tools needed to deliberately pace the frontier of automated AI development,\u201d the executives said in the letter.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"13\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2>Here\u2019s the letter shared by employees of Google, Meta, Anthropic, Microsoft, Amazon and OpenAI<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p> <span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"16\"\/><span class=\"em\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">\u201cAI could help create a dramatically better future, but that outcome is not guaranteed. But each company\u2014and country\u2014is under intense competitive pressure not to unilaterally slow that acceleration.
