Long before he became an eight-time Olympic gold medalist and world record holder, he was a young boy in Sherwood Content, Jamaica, who often preferred playing video games over attending track practice.<!-- --> Behind every milestone in his career stood his parents, Wellesley and Jennifer Bolt, whose discipline, sacrifices and support helped shape his future. Life was simple, and money was pretty limited, but they still made sure their children understood the real value of discipline along with hard work.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"9\"\/>Bolt had incredible natural speed from a young age. But staying focused was not always easy. He often tried to skip training so he could spend time playing video games with friends in nearby Falmouth.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"12\"\/>His father, Wellesley Bolt, refused to let that talent go to waste. He kept pushing his son to stay committed, while his mother, Jennifer Bolt, gave him the encouragement and emotional support he needed whenever things became difficult.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"14\"\/>Looking back at those early years, Bolt once said:<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"16\"\/>\u201cWhen I was younger they were my driving force. I was more focused on doing it for my country and my parents\u2026 From then on I was more careful and I sacrificed more. <!-- -->I wanted to use my talent in the right way.\u201d<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"20\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2>Why did Usain Bolt\u2019s parents stay in Sherwood Content after his success<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p>As Bolt\u2019s career reached new heights, he broke the world records in the 100 metres (9.58 seconds) and 200 metres (19.19 seconds) while becoming one of the most recognised athletes in the world.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"23\"\/>Despite his global fame and success, his parents chose not to leave their hometown. I\u2019m not your husband, but I\u2019m your child.
