Gulveer Singh scripted history by becoming the first Indian to win a Commonwealth Games medal in the men&#8217;s 10,000m, claiming silver with a brilliant time of 27:49.78. <!-- -->He stayed with the leading pack throughout the race before producing a powerful final-lap sprint to finish behind Australia&#8217;s Ky Robinson.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"11\"\/>In weightlifting, Harjinder Kaur claimed the silver medal in the women&#8217;s 69kg category with a total lift of 227kg, improving on the bronze medal she won at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"13\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h3>Boxers guarantee three more medals<br \/><\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"15\"\/>India&#8217;s boxing contingent continued to impress as Jadumani Singh, Preeti Pawar, and Priya Ghanghas all advanced to the semifinals by winning their respective quarterfinal bouts, ensuring at least bronze medals.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"18\"\/><\/p>\n<div class=\"cdatainfo   id-r-component \" data-pos=\"19\">\n<ul>\n<li>Jadumani Singh defeated Zambia&#8217;s Mwengo Mwale in the men&#8217;s 55kg quarterfinal.<\/li>\n<li>Preeti Pawar outclassed Nicole Clyde of Northern Ireland in the women&#8217;s 54kg quarterfinal.<\/li>\n<li>Priya Ghanghas overcame Scotland&#8217;s Niamh Mitchell in the women&#8217;s 60kg quarterfinal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"20\"\/>However, Kapil Pokhariya exited the men&#8217;s 90kg event after losing to Scotland&#8217;s Robert McNulty, while Parveen Hooda bowed out following her defeat to England&#8217;s Sacha Hickey in the women&#8217;s 65kg quarterfinal.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"22\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h3>Mixed results in athletics and swimming<br \/><\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"24\"\/>Athletics produced contrasting results for the Indian contingent. Vishal TK booked his place in the men&#8217;s 400m semifinals, while Rajesh Ramesh failed to progress from the heats. Young high jumper Pooja Singh also saw her campaign end after missing out on a place among the medal winners.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"28\"\/>In the pool, Srihari Nataraj qualified for the men&#8217;s 100m backstroke semifinal but could not advance to the final after finishing sixth in his semifinal race. Veteran swimmer Sajan Prakash finished 28th overall in the men&#8217;s 50m butterfly heats and missed out on a semifinal berth.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"30\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">Weightlifting setback, bowls victory<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"32\"\/><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"33\"\/>India also endured disappointment in weightlifting as Nirupama Devi Seram recorded a Did Not Finish (DNF) in the women&#8217;s 63kg competition after failing to register a successful clean and jerk lift.
