By then, a large crowd had gathered to offer puja to the deity.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"14\"\/>Some claimed they had been waiting since the night before.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"16\"\/>Since the approach road runs close to the ASI-protected mosque complex, police regulated the movement of devotees and vehicles.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"18\"\/>Cops were deployed inside and outside the monument premises, entry was allowed only after checking, and drones were used for surveillance.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"21\"\/>Malda SP Anupam Singh said, \u201cWe made security arrangements for the entire event as well as for the protection of the ASI site.\u201d<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"23\"\/>Hindu Suraksha Samiti state president <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/abhijit-das\" styleobj=\"[object Object]\" class=\"\" commonstate=\"[object Object]\" frmappuse=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abhijit Das<\/a> said, \u201cWe never wanted to create any law-and-order problem. We performed our rituals at the place specified by the administration.\u201d<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"28\"\/>Meanwhile, Kajal Gowami of the Adinath Temple Committee claimed there was evidence that Adina Masjid was once a temple.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"31\"\/>\u201cWe will present our case before the high court and the Union govt,\u201d Gowami said. Some devotees, in fact, said they wanted the Shivling to be taken inside the mosque complex and consecrated there.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"33\"\/>The Adina Masjid, situated around 20 km from English Bazaar, was built by Sultan Sikandar Shah between 1364 and 1374 AD.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"35\"\/>The vast rectangular hypostyle structure, spread over nearly
